If you love living on the edge of danger, you might be an adrenaline junkie. So what are some essential adventures if you can’t get enough excitement? Read on to find out.
Skydiving
This is certainly one of the most exhilarating activities that a person can undertake. You can skip the traditional classes and instruction and opt for a tandem jump. In this case, you are attached to a professional skydiving instructor who will make sure the parachute is opened at the right time and insures you land in a safe spot. Or you can go it alone, albeit with some instruction first, and rely on yourself to open that chute at the right time. No matter which way you go about it, your heart will race, your adrenaline will rush and you will have an unforgettable experience. Feel the wind in your face, see a view that you can only see from high in the sky and enjoy the feeling of flying. There’s nothing else quite like it. For adrenaline junkies, it truly is the best rush.
Hang Gliding
This activity may be second only to skydiving when it comes to sheer thrill. When you hang glide, you will attach yourself to what looks a little like a large kite. Then you will make a run over the edge of a high cliff and glide. Since you have a lot of control over the direction and speed of your flight, it truly feels like you are a bird in the sky. Hang gliders can reach nearly 20,000 feet in the sky, and can fly for hours on end. Speeds can reach up to 100 miles per hour. Note that it does take some time to learn how to hang glide by yourself, but, like skydiving, there are tandem options available which allow you to tag along with a professional hang glider instead. Some worldwide hotspots for hang gliding include coastal cliffs in California and Oregon, mountainous regions of Pennsylvania and Utah and the great mountains in the Alps of Europe.
Bungee Jumping
With bungee jumping, you will have flexible ropes tied to your ankles or waste, you will stand on the edge of a high bridge and then jump. Usually, there will be a river below the bridge, and you may even touch the water when you jump over. It’s an exhilarating feat and a must do activity for any adrenaline junkie. You don’t even need much instruction, as with skydiving or hang gliding, so it’s truly an activity you can “jump” into easily.
Kayaking
We’re not talking about kayaking down a peaceful river or stream, no; we are talking about kayaking some great rapids. This activity does require some instruction and specialized equipment of course, but for the adrenaline junkie, there are few things you can do on the ground that are more exciting than river running on a kayak. Enjoy nature and the outdoors while making your way through treacherous whitewater. Once you’re out of the whitewater though, you can enjoy a calm ride through the glory of nature, through stunning canyons, mountains and forests.
